Cheesy Chicken Plantains

A different option for your starters/ evening snacks and also a healthy snack option for your kids. Raw Plantains are a good source of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), and vitamin C. Green plantains are also rich in resistant starch, a type of fiber that benefits gut health.

Prep time: 15 mins Cook time: 50 mins Total time: 65 mins



For the outer layer : 

Raw banana/Plantain  (boiled, peeled and mashed) 4 medium size 

Potatoes (boiled, peeled and mashed) 1 small sized 

Corn flour 4 tbsp

Garlic powder 2 tsp

White pepper powder 2 tsp

Salt to taste

For the Stuffing :

Chicken kheema 250 gms

Onion (finely chopped) 1 large

Tomato (finely chopped) 1 large

Garlic (finely chopped)

Chicken stock cube 1

Red chili powder 1 tsp

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves (chopped) 2 tbsp

Mozzarella cheese (cut into small cubes) 50 gms

Egg 1 large

Breadcrumbs 1 cup

Oil 3 tbsp + for frying


In a large bowl take all the ingredients mentioned under the outer layer and mix them well forming a dough. The dough should be smooth, keep aside.

Now we will prepare the stuffing, heat a pan with 3 tbsp of oil, then add the onions and fry for around 3-4 minutes then add the garlic, fry till the onions turn light brown.

Now add the tomatoes, fry for 2 minutes and then add red chilly powder,  salt, turmeric powder and chicken stock cube, stir them well and fry the masala till oil separates.

Now add the kheema, stir it well add a little water, cover and cook the chicken on low to medium flame, keep stirring occasionally. 

Once all the water dries and oil separates from the chicken than its ready,  set aside and let it cool.

In a bowl beat the egg well and keep aside, remove the breadcrumbs on a plate.

Now take a lemon size dough that we had kept aside,  try to make a deep indentation in middle for the filling. Now add the little bit of kheema that we made and place a mozzarella cube in the center and carefully close and form a ball.

Once all the balls are made, pass them through the egg and coat them breadcrumbs.

Fry the balls in enough oil until they are golden brown.
