Paneer Makhmali

A classic dish of one the celebrated chef "Late Tarla Dalal". Its a 30 minutes paneer recipe made with paneer pieces marinated in an aromatic mint, coriander and cashew paste tossed in buttered onions.

Prep time: 20 mins Cook time: 10 mins Total time: 30 mins



Paneer (cubed) 700 gms

Butter 1 tbsp

Oil 1 tsp

Onion (finely sliced) 1 large

Milk 1/2 cup

Garam masala 1 1/2 tsp

Salt to taste

Onion rings for garnish

For Marination:

Grind into a thick green paste the following ingredients:

Coriander leaves (chopped) 2 cup

Mint leaves (chopped) 1/2 cup

Green chilies (chopped) 4

Ginger (chopped) 1 tbsp

Cashew (chopped) 1/4 cup

Curd 1/4 cup

Garlic cloves 2

Water 2 tbsp

Lemon juice 1 tbsp

Salt to taste


Mix the paneer cubes along with the thick green paste in a deep bowl, toss gently and keep aside for 15 minutes.

Heat the butter and oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 3 minutes.

Add the marinated paneer, milk, garam masala and little salt, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.

Garnish with onion rings and serve hot with parathas or butter naan.
