Saffron Rice

Prep time: 5 minutes  Cook time: 25 minutes Total time: 30 minutes 


Basmati rice 2 cups

Onions (finely chopped) 2 medium 

Ghee 2 tbsp

Saffron 1/2 tsp

Cumin seeds 2 tsp

Rosewater 1 tbsp

Salt & Pepper to taste


Rinse the rice and drain well.

Heat pan with ghee and fry the onions till they are translucent, add saffron and cumin seeds and mix for one minute.

Add the rice and mix for 5 minutes until the rice soaks the oil and turns yellow.

Add 3 cups of boiling water, and add salt.

Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. 

Cover as tightly as possible and cook for about 20 minutes.
